Whitchurch 14 vs Ludlow

Whitchurch went down for the second week again through ill-discipline. Full credit to the experienced and talented Ludlow team who kept their heads in match that was full of niggle. The first try was scored by Ludlow in the twelve minute which they converted. Whitchurch with ball in hand looked very positive and the forwards with a new front row started to gel together.

With a great drive up the pitch the Whitchurch forwards in the 17th minute scored an excellent try that the side-line had the “old war horse” Steven Bloor down as the scorer, when in reality it was young Jimmy Holland Hooker who got over the whitewash. Captain Danny Nicholas converted.

The match was evenly matched, but the “blue haze” came down and the young Whitchurch team lost their concentration giving away two penalties just before half time. Half time Whitchurch 7 Ludlow 13.

The second half started like the first half with a quick try by Ludlow which they converted. Whitchurch played some quick plays, and it was the forwards again who went over the line. This time it was Steven Bloor who scored. Nicholas converted the try.

Whitchurch gave away another penalty whereby Ludlow converted, and the ref issued a yellow card to a Whitchurch player. Ludlow took great advantage of this scoring two tries whilst the player was off the field.

Whitchurch gave away another try just before full time. The game ended Whitchurch 14 Ludlow 38.

If Whitchurch could stop the penalties and yellow cards, they will produce a great game of rugby. Training this week will be concentrating on discipline, form and focus.
