Whitchurch 22 vs Hereford 25
Whitchurch gifted Hereford the win as they have done so many times before. Whitchurch have a history with Hereford where they normally win at home and lose away. The two-hour drive to Hereford took its toll on the Whitchurch boys as they were left dozing as Hereford ran in a quick try after the sixth minute. Lots of challenging work and Nathan Horton crossed the line, to equal the score. That should have motivated Whitchurch, but they remained asleep, two more quick tries were executed by Hereford taking the score to 15-5.
Whitchurch awoke and joined the game with speed merchant James Marvel running in his usual 30-minute try. This was followed up with Tom Skone at fullback scoring four minutes before half time.
Half time it was 15-15. Whitchurch were now ready to take the game to Hereford, but Whitchurch’s penalty count was too high through their lack of discipline.
Jack Furnival scored a fine try early in the second half, with Danny Nicholas converting. 22-15 to Whitchurch.
More indiscipline and Whitchurch had three yellow cards so at one time they only had twelve players on the field. Hereford took advantage of this and scored another try kicking the conversion and converted a penalty. 25-22 to Hereford.
As stated earlier, Whitchurch gifted the game to Hereford. We could highlight lots of excuses but at training we will dust ourselves off and go again!
